The star studded Sports Personality of the Year event is currently taking place at the Birmingham NEC. All gentlemen present pay their respect to the awards ceremony by wearing ties. Yet another example of the power of the necktie! Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton is clear favourite to win the award this year, having finished second in his debut season in the sport. Other contenders include boxers, Ricky Hatton and Joe Calzaghe.
