BBC reporter Brian Milligan tries out the new 'short suit' which is designed for summer office wear in this video...

The suit which incorporates shorts rather than long trousers has already met much criticism. The main gripe being that many mens' legs are better not seen in the office.

The same could be said, in our unbiased opinion, of the male neck. Open-necked shirts reveal that part of the body that many people just don't want to see!

There is only one solution to these problems, wear long trousers and wear a tie. Some fashions never lose their class.

Beckham Birthday Marred by Shocking Tie & Hanky Mismatch

We were interested to see David Beckham step out for his 33rd birthday celebrations this week.

The Daily Mail was most interested by he and wife Victoria's monochrome outfits. Interesting, granted... but what intrigued us more was the LA Galaxy star's decision to wear tie and pocket hanky. Nothing too daring about that you may think... but Beckham's hanky and tie did not match. Shock. Horror.

Boris Johnson is London Mayor

Boris Johnson has been officially announced as new London Mayor, beating off competition from leading contender Ken Livingstone.

We said we'd be keeping an eye out for the ties they chose to wear on May 1st... and we did.

Johnson chose to wear a plain purple tie, the fashionable colour of the moment. Livingstone was being more coy though by wearing a long coat covering his suit and tie. So for us Boris Johnson won that battle on voting day!

On May 2nd (Result Day) though, we did get to see ties from both Ken and Boris. Whilst Conservative, Johnson stuck with a purple tie, Livingstone went for a nice bright yellow tie. If we'd seen that on Livingstone on May 1st, we'd have called it a draw!

Candidates Aim To Tie Up London Mayor Role

Ken Livingstone, Boris Johnson and Brian Paddick were all in the last chance saloon today in their push for votes to be elected Mayor of London.

LONDON (Reuters) - Boris Johnson and Ken Livingstone traded personal attacks on Wednesday as they made a final push for votes on the last day of campaigning in the London mayoral race.

in the meantime we are readying ourselves to see what ties the candidates wear on election day tomorrow. Perhaps, in what is said to be a 'neck-and-neck' battle between Johnson and Livingstone, it could come down to who wears the nicest tie on May 1st!

Fabregas Shows Style Off The Pitch Too

This year's PFA Players Player of the Year, Cristiano Ronaldo, was not present to receive his award at Sunday's star-studded ceremony at London's Grosvenor House Hotel, due to Champions League commitments. Fellow winner Cesc Fabregas was there though.

The Arsenal playmaker earned himself the PFA Young Player of the Year award for his performances throughout the 2007-08 Premier League campaign. The honour will have pleased Fabregas, no doubt, but what pleased us more was his decision to wear a tie rather than bow tie for the event.

The overwhelming majority of guests still choose to wear a bow tie for the black tie dinner, but young Spaniard Fabregas, showed he is a master of style off the field as well as on it by sporting a sharp black tie.

He went against the current trend of skinny ties and opted for a nice regular width tie.
